Feeling like summer

I have been busy with a few custom blanket orders, but before things ramped up, I was working on this one...to me it says summer...sun, sky, water...bright and fun. Now if only the weather would catch up!

I used Red Heart's Minty, Turqua, Delft Blue, and a vintage brand soft yellow

Taking a break

I received another request from a very sweet lady down in Texas named Kelley. She would like a granny square blanket in the colors similar to her daughter's bedding. The fabric line is called "Citrine" and it's by Joel Dewberry. The palate is beautiful. Clean, colorful and modern.

So here's what I came up with:

I think the colors compliment the fabric nicely, and I'm excited to pull it all together.

I'll be taking a short break from the shop and blog to catch up on all these blankets, but I'll post some final photos of everything when I return.

Hearts in bloom

I created a sampler square baby afghan a couple of years ago that sold quite well at my Etsy shop. I named it "hearts in bloom" because it was made up of several flower and heart patterns among others. It was a little nod to my Dad too who was dealing with congestive heart failure. He passed away this past September, and it's been a tough year without him. Whenever I think of this blanket, I think of my Dad, and I'm thankful for the time we had together.

The reason I bring up this afghan is because I was asked to do a custom order using purples. I've only done it in pink and white, and I'm looking forward to the change! I also have some new flower squares that I'm looking forward to incorporating. This will be a larger size than usual. I'll let you know how it goes...

New custom granny square baby afghan

I really enjoy "meeting" people on Etsy. Everyone has been so friendly, and all of my customers have been a pleasure to work with. My latest custom order is for a very nice woman in Virginia. She asked for colors to match her friend's nursery bedding. Here's where we're at:

Hot treasury

Today Julee from UnrulyJulee featured my hot pink and orange blanket in a treasury appropriately named "pretty in hot pink".

I think I need those heart sunglasses just to view this treasury! Love it. Thanks Julee.

Something to brighten your day

I'm always happy when I finish up a project, but my mind is also racing towards the next. I wish my hands could work as fast as my brain sometimes. While searching for inspiration for this afghan, I came across a cute little girl's dress (also Lilly Pulitzer) that I'm going to use as my next muse. I already see the finished blanket. Still thinking spring over here at tillie tulip...

Finished!

I finished up my custom order today. I really like how the blanket turned out. I probably wouldn't have paired some of the colors together if my customer had not requested it, but I love how they look together. I hope she likes it too...

       

 I'm inspired to look outside of my noggin at tangible color pairings for my next creation. I love Lilly Pulitzer (if only I could afford her), and I found this grouping in an old post over at the french tangerine. It'll be a Pulitzer/tillie tulip mash up...stay tuned...

The home stretch...

Some new photos of my custom afghan. I think the colors look very nice together, and the border really adds a lovely touch. Now I "just" have to weave in a hundred tails.

Little Boy Blue - Finished.

This one is going off to my cousin for little Adam, but I'm listing a custom order at my shop as well. I love this yarn. I wish they would add even more colors though.
