A great book

Many people have asked about the pattern for the blanket below, and I just finished up a new one, so I thought I would dedicate a post to it. The pattern can be found in the book  "Beyond the Square: Crochet Motifs".

It's a great book full of fun and unique squares and motifs. They also use amazing colors in the photos. The background of my square is slightly different as I used a simple granny square (3dc ch2 3 dc (corner) then 3dc in each space around). That's the only difference. I highly recommend the book.

I took a few photos of the my latest, finished blanket. I also took a photo of the back in case anyone was interested in seeing what that looks like.

Have a relaxing Labor Day!

  4. Very cute and beautiful blanket! :) I was thinking about buying this book seeing few blogs hosting the motif challenges with reference to its designs but somehow was dropping the purchase since I already have few square pattern and motifs books. Now, after seeing this lovely creation of yours I am surely going to give this book a try:)

    1. Thank you Preeti! I just saw Edie Eckman's new book new book "Connect the Shapes Crochet Motifs" about joining motifs is out. I do not have that one yet, but I do have her "Around the corner - Crochet borders" and it's another wonderful book. Her color combinations are always so inspiring, and I particularly like this book because she shows how to work corners (I have other edging books, but not many that address the corner)! Have a wonderful day!

  5. I really enjoy your sense of color. Also, your work is so very neat. I recall seeing your first version of this blanket and asking about the motif. I'm glad now that you posted the reverse side of the blanket. That is what threw me off; I'm not fond of the recess square that is created. I tried coming up with alternatives, like making the center round, working the granny square on it, then going back to the top side and working the petals around in various ways (one was by making loops and working on them. I had some interesting results, returned my attention to projects that needed to get done. Maybe I'll get back to this flower some day - it really is very pretty.
