Donna's daisy blanket surprise

I finished my mother-in-law's blanket and sent it over with a vase full of flowers (daisies included of course) and a card with the grandkids on it. My husband was the delivery man, and he took the kids and left everything at her house when we knew she wouldn't be home. By the tone of her voice, I think she was very surprised!

I'm going to work on a variation of this blanket for a baby and list it on Etsy at tillie tulip. Hope you have a peaceful Sunday!

The daisy pattern can be found here.

    1. Hi Margo, You are too kind! Thanks so much for your nice post. I have a special place in my heart for tulips, but I love daisies and wild flowers. I'm trying to revive some old wild flower seeds in my garden this year. We'll see how that goes. I'll post some photos of my daisies on blue as soon as I finish up my little hat (and other projects) - I'm sure you can relate. Thanks again for stopping by!

  2. Laura, I love your blue daisy afghan. Can you tell me what brand yarn you used and whether the connecting and border yarn is light grey or some type of off-white?

    1. Hi Bonnie, Thanks for stopping by. The yarns I used in the daisy afghan are all Caron One Pound. I really like a lot of their colors, but wish they would come up with more. The connecting color is their "Off White". It's my favorite to use because it's so neutral and works with just about any color. I also like using this particular yarn because it washes so soft, but it is quite sturdy if that makes any sense.

As I mentioned to another member, I have no problems mixing brands as long as they are the same weight. I hope that helps. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    2. What are the names of the blues that you used?

    3. Hi Rachael, Sorry for taking so long to get back to you - the colors in this particular blanket are actually green. I think there was some confusion, because I mentioned I was going to be working on a baby blanket with blues. These colors are: pale green and soft sage.

  6. I absolutely love this pattern- and thanks to your instructions I was able to make my own daisy square tonight! As a beginner that is quite a feat -lol. I would like to start on a whole blanket, but I need to buy yarn. I am wondering approximately how many skeins of yarn you went through to make this and what size hook you usually use?

    1. Hi jcn, I'm so glad you were able to work up one of these squares! It's really not too difficult once you get the hang of it. I would guess some people aren't keen on removing the hook and pulling through, but it just feels like another stitch move the more you do it! I used Caron One Pound for this blanket, and I used one skein each of the yellow, light green and dark green, and I believe 2 skeins of the white. You'll have yarn left over, but you use quite a lot for a throw size. I usually use a size I hook. I hope that helps and have a very nice day!

    3. Can you tell me what this blanket measures and how many blocks long and wide you made it please. Thank you.. I find that the actual colors are more green than this photo appears more aqua colored. I actually like the green just as well. Thank you

    4. Hi LW, Sorry for taking so long to get back. I was away. Each square is about 7 1/2 inches. I use 6 squares x 8 squares, and with border and edging is comes out to about 50" x 70". I don't know why the colors look blue-ish, but they are soft green and sage green. The actual colors are definitely more toward a blue hue family rather than yellow, but they are green. I've used them together in many blankets because they are a couple of my favorites. I hope that helps. Have a terrific week!

  8. So I am in love with this! I actually already have all the yarn and about seven inner squares already done. My problem is that I can't find the right color gray! I would love it you could tell me which brand and color you used to attach the squares. Thank you so much and I love the pattern.

    1. Hi Carra, Thanks for your note. The color I am using to join is actually Caron One Pound in Off White. I like their off white because it is a little more gray-hued as opposed to a creamy off white. It's a nice neutral color I use whenever I'm not using white. I hope that helps. Good luck with your blanket and stop by again!

    1. Hi Heather, I have these colors on hand at all times (I pick them up when they're on sale), so sometimes I don't pay as much attention to how much I'm using! They are all Caron One Pound and I used approximately 1 skein Jonquil (yellow), 1 skein white, 1-2 skeins Pale Green, 1 skein soft sage, and 2 skeins off white. I hope that helps. Sorry I can't be more exact!

    3. Hi Millie, I have never had the entire blanket pattern on this site, just the square, but I do have a similar pattern available at my Etsy store. It is a slight variation - with a granny center - but it might be a good blanket to start with if you are a beginner. The pattern also explains how I join them, so if you would like to do an entire daisy blanket, you could keep making daisies, and keep joining them as you go. I hope that helps. 12. hi. Do you have the pattern for the edging? I completed the blanket but wanted to do the edge to be the half round like things that this pic shows. Thanks.

    1. Hi Tai, After joining all the squares, I did a round of sc in the off-white (3sc, ch1, 3sc in each corner) and then I finished with a round of hdc in the pale green (3hdc, ch1, 3hdc in each corner).

  13. Hi Laura. Today I found Daisy crochet afghan. The colors are definitely blue granny squares with orange or yello center with white then blue. But the daisy is not raised the squares are crochet together with several beige borders. This appears almost like your pink one except the daisy is not raised. I hope I can insert a picture for

    1. Hi Debbie, Thank you so much for your nice note. It is a labor of love, but I just love to work with fibers! Yes, I do sell these as a custom order. Currently, however, I'm working on four large afghans, so I wouldn't be able to take on another until late August. If you are still interested, contact me at my shop: www.etsy.com/shop/tillietulip Stop back again some time! Hope you have a very nice weekend. Take care, Laura
